Contributor & Editor Terms

These Contributor & Editor Terms (“Terms”) apply to every person who writes, edits, submits, manages or publishes editorial content through Kickwise or the Kickwise Editor Panel (“Contributor”).

By selecting the acceptance checkbox, submitting content after acceptance, or continuing to use the Editor Panel, the Contributor confirms that they have read, understood and agreed to be bound by the current version of these Terms. A Contributor who does not agree must not use the Editor Panel or submit content for publication.

The Contributor confirms that they have the legal capacity and authority required to accept these Terms and to grant the rights described below. Unless a separate written agreement expressly states otherwise, these Terms do not create an employment, partnership, agency, joint-venture or guaranteed paid relationship between the Contributor and Kickwise.

No minimum number of assignments, working hours, publication opportunities or payments is promised under these Terms. Any paid engagement must be agreed separately in writing.

Subject to any rights belonging to third parties, the Contributor retains copyright in the original article or other original written material created by that Contributor and submitted to Kickwise (“Original Contribution”).

Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of the Original Contribution itself to Kickwise. The Contributor can only grant rights that the Contributor actually owns or is lawfully authorised to grant.

For every Original Contribution submitted to Kickwise, the Contributor grants Kickwise a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, publish, display, distribute, format, technically adapt, edit, promote, archive, translate and localise that contribution for Kickwise’s editorial, operational and promotional purposes.

The licence includes the right to use headlines, excerpts, metadata, SEO text and reasonable extracts on Kickwise websites, newsletters, social channels and other official Kickwise distribution channels, and to permit service providers acting for Kickwise to perform the technical or editorial acts required for those purposes.

The Contributor expressly authorises Kickwise to translate and localise an Original Contribution. A translation, localisation, translated headline, translated excerpt, translated metadata or other editorial adaptation created by Kickwise or created by a translator, editor or contractor engaged for Kickwise is separate editorial material from the Contributor’s Original Contribution.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, copyright and other transferable rights arising in those Kickwise-created or Kickwise-commissioned translations and localised materials are owned by Kickwise or are used by Kickwise under rights assigned or licensed to it. Ownership of the Original Contribution does not give the Contributor an automatic right to reproduce a Kickwise translation.

A Kickwise translation or localised version may not be copied, republished, distributed, licensed or otherwise reused outside Kickwise without prior written permission from Kickwise, unless Kickwise has expressly stated different reuse terms. Whenever such permission is given, Kickwise must be clearly identified as the source and a source link must be provided where technically possible.

Because the licence granted to Kickwise is non-exclusive, the Contributor may reuse or republish their own Original Contribution elsewhere, subject to any third-party rights or separate written agreement.

While the same Original Contribution remains published on Kickwise, Kickwise asks that the Contributor identify Kickwise as the original publication or source where reasonably practical. This request is not an exclusivity obligation and is not mandatory unless separately agreed in writing. It does not apply to Kickwise translations, which are governed by the preceding section.

Submission does not guarantee publication. Kickwise retains editorial discretion to accept, reject, schedule, return to draft, request revisions, correct, format, title, excerpt, optimise for search, temporarily unpublish or permanently remove content.

Kickwise may make reasonable edits that do not materially misrepresent the Contributor’s position. Where practicable, Kickwise will consult the Contributor before making a material editorial change to the meaning, argument or attributed opinion of an Original Contribution.

For each submission, the Contributor represents and warrants, to the best of their knowledge after reasonable checks, that the submission is lawful and that the Contributor has all rights and permissions necessary to submit it and grant the rights in these Terms.

In particular, the Contributor represents and warrants that the submission is not knowingly plagiarised; does not unlawfully infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, confidentiality or other third-party rights; does not contain material the Contributor knows to be defamatory, fraudulent or unlawfully misleading; and does not include third-party material for which required permission or another lawful basis is absent.

• The submission is original to the Contributor or all third-party material is lawfully used with any required permission.
• The submission does not knowingly plagiarise, infringe copyright, trade marks, database rights, confidentiality, privacy, publicity/personality rights or other rights of any person.
• The submission is not knowingly defamatory, fraudulent, unlawfully discriminatory, threatening, illegal or subject to a contractual restriction that prevents publication by Kickwise.
• Quotations, factual assertions and source-dependent claims have been checked with reasonable care and attributed where appropriate.
• Any photograph, graphic, document, video or other third-party material supplied by the Contributor may lawfully be used for the intended Kickwise publication.

The Contributor is responsible for maintaining reasonable editorial standards in the material submitted under their name, including the accuracy of factual claims, quotations, statistics, names, dates and source references.

Material being publicly available on the internet does not by itself establish permission to copy or republish it. The Contributor must not provide third-party photographs, graphics, documents or other protected material unless the required rights, licence, exception or permission exists.

AI tools may be used as a research, brainstorming, language or editorial aid, but the Contributor remains the human author or responsible editor of the final submission.

The Contributor must independently review material produced with AI assistance and remains responsible for accuracy, originality, sourcing, rights clearance and the final quality of the submission. Fabricated facts, invented quotations, false citations, plagiarism or materially unreviewed AI output may be rejected or removed.

The Contributor is responsible for the Original Contribution and for legal or regulatory issues arising from material, claims, media, instructions or representations supplied by that Contributor. Kickwise does not assume the Contributor’s duty to obtain permissions, verify third-party rights, avoid unlawful statements or comply with obligations that apply specifically to the Contributor.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Kickwise accepts no responsibility for claims, losses, proceedings or liabilities caused by the Contributor’s breach of these Terms, unlawful content, infringement of third-party rights, false statements or failure to obtain necessary permissions. This does not exclude responsibility that applicable law does not permit Kickwise to exclude, or responsibility arising solely from Kickwise’s own independent unlawful conduct.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Contributor agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Kickwise and the persons operating it from third-party claims, damages, liabilities, reasonable legal costs and expenses arising directly from the Contributor’s breach of these Terms, infringement of third-party rights, unlawful Original Contribution, or materially false representation made by the Contributor.

This indemnity does not apply to the extent a claim is caused by Kickwise’s independent unlawful act or by a material alteration introduced solely by Kickwise that was not present in, and was not reasonably authorised by, the Contributor’s submission.

Editor Panel access is personal and must not be shared. The Contributor must take reasonable steps to protect login credentials and promptly notify Kickwise of suspected unauthorised access.

Unpublished drafts, internal editorial discussions, non-public platform information and personal information encountered through editorial access must be treated as confidential and used only for legitimate Kickwise editorial purposes, unless disclosure is required by law.

A Contributor may use the Privacy & Data area to request removal of one specific blog post or all blog posts attributed to that Contributor. A request is sent to Kickwise for review and does not automatically delete content when submitted.

Kickwise will normally process reasonable removal requests within a reasonable period, subject to legal, regulatory, evidential, security, backup and record-retention requirements. Removal from Kickwise cannot guarantee immediate deletion of search-engine caches, third-party copies, web archives or historic social-media references outside Kickwise’s control.

A Contributor may separately request deletion of their Kickwise account. Submission of an account-deletion request does not itself terminate or erase the account; the request is reviewed before action is taken.

Termination or deletion of an account does not extinguish rights or obligations that by their nature must survive, including legal records, confidentiality, responsibility for prior submissions, accrued claims and the limited archival rights described in these Terms.

Kickwise may suspend Editor Panel access, decline future contributions or unpublish/remove content where reasonably necessary for security, serious factual errors, plagiarism, rights concerns, unlawful material, breach of these Terms, misuse of the platform or conduct that threatens the integrity of Kickwise or other users.

The Contributor may stop making future contributions at any time. Ending the editorial relationship does not retrospectively invalidate lawful uses made while these Terms and the relevant licence were in effect.

The Editor Panel and related editorial services are provided on an “as available” basis. Kickwise does not guarantee uninterrupted access, publication of any submission, audience size, traffic, search ranking, professional opportunities, revenue or any particular editorial outcome.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Kickwise will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special or purely economic loss arising from use of the Editor Panel or publication of a contribution where such liability may lawfully be limited. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

Kickwise may update these Terms when its editorial programme, legal requirements or platform features change. Where a material new version affects existing Contributors, Kickwise may require renewed acceptance before further Editor Panel use.

If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect to the extent permitted by law. A failure to enforce a provision on one occasion does not waive the right to enforce it later.
