About the Role

Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly established Data & Analytics department at Middlesbrough Football Club.

We are seeking a motivated and analytically minded Data Analyst to support the delivery of data-driven insights across the Club. Working closely with the Head of Data and Data Engineer, you will help transform data into actionable information that supports decision-making across football performance analysis, recruitment, sports science, medical and wider club operations.

This role would suit someone with experience working in football, performance analysis, sports science or a related discipline who is passionate about data, enjoys solving problems, and is keen to further develop their analytical and technical skills.

The Role

  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards and visualisations using Power BI.

  • Analyse football, performance, sports science and operational data to identify trends, insights and opportunities.

  • Support the integration and validation of data from multiple football and business systems.

  • Work with key stakeholders across the Club to understand requirements and help deliver data products that support decision-making.

  • Produce clear and engaging visualisations and reports tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Assist in ensuring data quality, consistency and accuracy across reporting outputs.

  • Support ad-hoc analytical projects across football operations, performance analysis, recruitment, medical and other business-related departments.

  • Contribute to the development of self-service reporting and analytics capabilities across the organisation.

  • Document reporting processes, business definitions and analytical methodologies.

  • Keep up to date with developments in sports analytics, football intelligence and data visualisation best practice.

About The Candidate

CANDIDATES SHOULD:

  • Experience working within a football, sports science, performance analysis, recruitment analysis or related sporting environment.

  • Familiarity with football data platforms and technologies such as; StatsBomb, SkillCorner, Catapult, VALD, Second Spectrum, Hudl Sportscode (desirable), Transfermarkt and other football intelligence platforms (desirable)

  • Experience creating reports, dashboards or visualisations using Power BI.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate findings clearly to a range of stakeholders.

  • Good understanding of Microsoft Excel and data analysis principles.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.

  • Passion for football and an interest in using data to improve performance and decision-making.
